Yurkanis Originals are quilts made of 100% cotton and/or silk. Quilting is a process that combines precision and imperfection to express design. Each fabric has its own texture and tone. There is always a lively dialogue between Nan, fabric, color and form, that continues until a blend — a spontaneous harmony — of all the voices emerges.
Giclee (pronounced zhee-clay) prints of the originals are also available in a range of sizes. Giclee is a French word meaning “to spray”. All prints of Nan’s work are produced on the most archival materials to produce fine art prints on smooth 100% cotton watercolor paper. The pigmented inks create a print that is visually exquisite and technically amazing with a lifespan of 75 – 100 years.
